Avalon was founded by people who live and work in this community—local leaders who saw a need and chose to act. From the very beginning, we set out to create something meaningful for Lawrence—and for the wider region. We are proud to be a local program with a statewide and regional mission.
Our commitment extends far beyond the city limits. Avalon proudly serves the entire state of Kansas and the greater Kansas City metro. Whether someone comes from down the street or across the region, they will find a team here that welcomes them with care, respect, and a deep understanding of what recovery can be.

Our Team
Local Ownership, Driven by Purpose
Our ownership group is made up of Kansas-based professionals and community members who have walked beside individuals and families struggling with addiction and mental health challenges. They didn’t just want to build a program—they wanted to make a difference. So they created Avalon: a place that values healing over volume, people over policy, and purpose over profit.
This local leadership is visible in everything we do—from how we hire and train our staff, to the partnerships we form, to the community projects we support. We exist to help our neighbors thrive.
Avalon is more than just a treatment center. It’s a community of people who truly understand what recovery takes. Across our team—from clinicians and peers to leadership and support staff—we bring over 100 years of personal recovery experience to this work.
